Adherence Assists With Efficacy
According to the Pediatric Formulations Task Force of the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) children learn to swallow pills at different ages and difficulty swallowing is one reason why children and teens may not take their medicine as prescribed. Even adults can have trouble swallowing pills and tablets.
A systematic review of 10 studies published by the American Academy of Pediatrics showed that patients who take medicine as prescribed have better outcomes and lower costs of care. Among patients with hypertension, effective therapy has been shown to reduce the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events.
Pleasant-tasting medication and liquid formulations can potentially help children and teens take their medication successfully.
The AAP Recommends
Amlodipine Oral Suspension
for the management of chronic hypertension in children aged 6 to 17 years.
